Athlone Calvinist is located in the Suburb known as Athlone in the area of Kewtown which lies approximately 9 km West of Cape Town International Airport. Kewtown is a gang infested area plagued by drug abuse. It forms part of the Historical Cape Flats which gets its name from the flat sandy stretch of land located in the outskirts of Cape Town Central. Many references are made to the Cape Flats as a dumping ground of the Previous Apartheid Regime and where many hundreds of thousands of people who fell victims of those atrocities. This was all done via the notorious Group Areas Act, which was devised by the old Apartheid Government of South Africa. Our church serves a community of all ages and ethnics groups

Athlone Calvinist church was formally established in October 1950. The church seats around 1000 people. We are the “mother church” of a group of churches across South Africa.

As a church we are committed to be Christ centred and to be faithful to the Biblical gospel. We believe that all people are in need of personal salvation which is by faith alone in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
